It is always exciting when we have a new collaboration underway, and there have certainly been plenty of those over the last few months! This summer, we joined forces with bloggers from all corners of the country to find out what they thought of our products.

Our Favorite Collaborations of the Summer

From cleansers and serums to face masks and moisturizers, we made sure to carefully choose specific products for each blogger we collaborated with. We kept their individual skin types in mind, along with any skin concerns that they were dealing with, ensuring that the products they tried would truly be able to improve their skin.

With a passion for fashion, beauty and travel, Lindsey from @iamlyn.z was excited to receive two of our most popular products.

The first was the 24K Multi-Vitamin Deep Peeling + Mandelic Acid. Everyone knows how important exfoliation is, and this product is quite a unique way of doing that. A fashion and beauty blogger, as well as publisher of What’s Haute Magazine, Ehmonie Hainey is based in DC but frequently travels all over the world.

One of Ehmonie’s goals for the year was to take better care of her skin. So, we stepped in to help her do exactly that. Taking Care Of Your Greying Hair

Time is one of those things that is really difficult to resist. We do our best. Many of us try to exercise, eat right, and do all the right things to keep ourselves healthy and looking our best. These ultimately do little more than buy us a little more time. Yes, they help us age gracefully, but they aren’t that perfect solution that we all quietly hope will appear one day. That’s why so many of us make an effort to try to manage the various signs of aging. After all, a short delay can mean having another few years of looking that much more like how we see ourselves. Greying hair is one of those signs that tends to reach us earliest while also being comparatively easy to notice against our normal hair color. There are plenty of rapid-fire solutions to go through in hopes that they’ll help. None of them really do much. Greying hair may not be what any of us want to see, but treating it well can keep it looking healthy as we adapt to a new look.

Why We Grey
Interestingly enough, greying hair isn’t actually turning grey. That’s just what it looks like to us. Hair changes colors because it isn’t getting the same amount of pigmentation that it is used to getting. Your hair, like your skin, relies on melanin to provide it with its pigmentation. The cells that produce melanin tend to become less reliable as we age. The result is that areas of these cells will gradually begin to function as well as they once did and the shortfall begins to show. Hairs without sufficient melanin are actually white. They begin to wind their way through the rest of your hair and the mixing of the two apparent colors is what causes the appearance of “greying” hair. That’s technically why hair seems to get lighter and lighter as we age. More and more melanin producing cells fail and so there is less color to work against the white hairs until they take over. This lack of melanin doesn’t actually hurt your hair any though. It can use the same love you’ve given it for years before.

Slowing the March
While you can’t necessarily stop your hair from greying, you can manage some factors that can help minimize the chances of going grey earlier. Eating a healthy diet and exercising regularly can go a long way towards helping to minimize premature greying. This is because failing to take care of yourself opens you up to various health issues that can cause premature greying. A healthy lifestyle counters this issue. However, there are some factors that you can’t really control for because they’re part of your genetics. Some of us simply have the genetics for going grey early. You’ll generally know this ahead of time as relatives tend to comment on such a trait more than once in your lifetime. Some variation is also found in various ethnicities. People of African descent tend go grey later while light-skinned people, particularly Caucasians, go grey the soonest. This interplay of genetics and overall health is what ultimately determines when you start to go grey and how fast it happens.

Cleaning Up
There are no truly special care instructions when it comes to taking care of greying hair. You may want to swap to a more gentle product over time to avoid irritating your scalp, but beyond that the routine care you’ve become used to will generally be enough. This isn’t necessarily true if you strive to maintain a certain look and routinely dye your hair though. You’ll want to check with the stylist responsible for any particular extra care instructions and pay attention to make sure that your scalp isn’t suffering from being dyed too often. We would like to stress that most people do not need to shampoo every day and anyone who encourages you to do it just because you’re going grey isn’t doing you any favors. What we do encourage is to let your hair get wet every day and go through the motions like your wear shampooing. This combined with the lukewarm heat of the shower will help keep a healthy blood flow through your scalp and contribute to the overall long-term health of your hair.

While grey hair can sometimes feel like an unwelcome herald of a less desirable time of our lives, it is something most of us eventually need to embrace. There’s nothing wrong with that. Learning to accept the nature change in our hair color and how to work with it to maintain an acceptable look is something everyone will eventually need to do. Accepting it will happen and planning for it will let you approach grey hair with a healthy attitude. That alone will do wonders to help keep your hair healthy for years yet.

Depression is a persistent condition that often remains in our lives after the first experience with it. The condition isn’t simply being sad like the common representation often has people thinking. It is an insidious condition that can sneak into our lives without warning and become a guiding force before we know it. Getting our lives back under control after this can be difficult thanks to its persistence. Lifestyle changes can go a long way towards helping manage chronic depression whether it is major depression or comparatively mild. The changes can help keep low-level depression easily managed and kept from overly affecting you life alongside proper treatment. We’ve got a quick look at some of the universally good options so you can find things to help yourself if you’re struggling.

Shine A Little Light
Strangely enough, sunlight and light in general can be incredibly helpful when it comes to managing depression. Most experts believe this is connected to the positive effects of Vitamin D. Your body actually begins to create the vitamin on exposure to sunlight. Many of us are skin conscious though and the idea of sunning to improve our mood can make us all a bit wary. It can give you the boost of energy and mood you need to get through each day. Looking after your health with depression is more or less the same as it is without it. You need to make sure that you’re getting an adequately varied diet that gets you all the nutrients you need. This will help keep up your energy and ensure your depression isn’t being magnified by any nutritional deficiencies. Additionally, you’ll want to look into regular low-level exercise. Something as simple as briskly walking for half an hour to an hour three to four times a week can be incredibly good for helping maintain a neutral to positive mood. Additionally, you can be getting that sun at the same time to help compound the help it will give you.

Sleep On Schedule
Managing your sleep schedule is crucial when dealing with any level of depression. Disturbed sleep is a classic sign of the condition for a reason. Insomnia tends to be fairly common and the lack of rest causes your physical and mental health to both suffer. This feeds back into maintaining the depression. Most experts recommend taking a two-fold approach to making sure you get enough sleep when dealing with depression. Good sleep hygiene is the first part. This means making sure you avoid doing things that make it more difficult for you to sleep. Turn down the lights some at night, turn off alarms, avoid caffeine, and overall make sure you’re doing something relaxing as your bedtime approaches. This will put your body in a state receptive to sleep. The second part is setting and keeping a time when you go to bed without fail. Establishing a pattern along with good sleep hygiene will help counteract the insomnia to a degree and hopefully ensure you get enough sleep.

The media has, sadly, given the impression that depression is something to be conquered. They don’t treat it as a fact and something that demands changes to one’s life to manage. More often than not, depression is a fact that changes our lives. We can do many things to help manage it though and prevent it from being a governing aspect of our lives. In time, those of us dealing with depression grow into an understanding that it does not make us lesser, but instead is simply another health consideration for us. These tricks and others can turn what seems like a bleak turn in our lives into an opportunity for positive change and a path out of the encroaching darkness and back to our lives.
